a gift in light, dark, shadow

  1. Light- the other night our power went out. We spent a few hours living by candle light. A fun adventure for a little while, but how thankful I am for dependable power sources.

Dark-watching the birds in the dusky darkness right before the sunrise. I love the reminder that a new day has arrived. The happy sound of the birds and the hope that dawns as the light breaks through.

Shadows- In life, as it was with our childhood imaginations, nothing is as scary in the light as it is when we leave it lurking in the shadows. The light of truth sets things in proper perspective.

  2. light- I like the light that comes in when you open a curtain, especially in Dominic's room, it shows we are ready to start the day

dark- when I turn off the kitchen light, it means the kitchen is closed and I am not a cook/snack maker/dishwasher, at least for a little while till the next scheduled feeding time. when you and your whole family are always home, the kitchen is a busy place and it feels like a never ending job so it is nice to turn it off, even if just for a few minutes.

shadows- such a break from the heat.
